It is rumored that the green parrots often seen flying above Santa Ana originated from the Santa Ana Zoo, and that one day, they broke free and fled aimlessly into the city. The exact amount of parrots that originally escaped in the rumor is unclear. But what is clear is that they flourished, and to this very day can often be seen and heard in large flocks, perched and feeding the lush treetops from French Park.
